Norah is standing

The picture is a little blurry, but you can see Norah is standing on her own with the help of her activity table. She can't get to the standing position yet, but she can get up on her knees so the standing won't be far behind. She is getting so big.

Bathing together

Yes, we bathe our kids together. They love it and it is so much easier to draw just one bath and get them both done at the same time.
Aren't they just the cutest:

Dinosaurs Alive

This week the Louisville Zoo opened a new exhibit, "Dinosaurs Alive". You walk through an area with animatronic dinosaurs of all shapes and sizes. You can even read about the different species of dinosaurs.
Nathan was thrilled to see the dinosaurs. As we rounded each bend in the path, he got excited again to see more dinosaurs. There were some kids there who were afraid of the dinosaurs that looked "alive", but not Nathan. He wanted to touch them and loved to hear them "talk".

T-Rex:

Nathan is showing off his new dinosaur (it roars):

Going to the Zoo with friends

We spend a lot of time at the Zoo with friends.
Nathan had such a good time running around and playing with his friend, Eli. We tried several times to get them both looking at the camera while posed atop the turtle statue. This is as good as it gets:

They were not afraid to get right into the face of the orangutan:

More Zoo Pix

We love going to the Louisville Zoo. We have a zoo pass that lets us get in anytime for a full year. If it is a nice day, we head to the Zoo. There is always something interesting going on with the animals. Nathan loves going.

Nathan wants to climb on all the animal statues:

The tiger was especially active this day:

Nathan was trying to count the pink flamingos:

Nathan's favorite animals at the Zoo are the lizards and snakes. He is absolutely fascinated. I think they are a little creepy, but they are behind glass so I guess it is okay.

Norah with the Easter Bunny

The Easter Bunny visited the daycare today and they sent me a picture of Norah with him. It looks like she just woke up from a nap. She is too cute!!!

Spring

Spring is definitely in the air. The weather is warmer and the coughy, sneezy, runny nose crud is running rampant.
With a new house, it is always interesting to see what pops up in the flower beds with each change of season. Just today I noticed a cluster of lovely purple flowers next to the front door. Someone with more plant knowledge than me will know what these are, but I think they are beautiful and a sure sign of spring.

Nathan the Builder

The weather has been beautiful lately and the sun is staying out longer so after work and school, we have been trying to get outside as much as possible. Today, however, it was spitting rain in the late afternoon so Jeff decided to do an activity in the garage with Nathan. He set up a little workbench and got out a Home Depot project. Together they built a pirate ship out of pre-cut wood. Nathan was so cute in his Bob the Builder tool belt (you can't see it in the picture) and with his little hammer.

He was so proud of his boat. He wants to take it in the water, but I am not sure it will float.

Norah's Croup

We have dealt with the croup with Nathan 3 times now and are quite familiar with the barking cough, the difficulty breathing, etc. We know what to do with Nathan when he wakes up in the middle of the night, we don't have to do to the ER anymore. The doctor diagnosed him with Spasmodic Croup, which only occurs in about 10% of croup cases. This means his croup is not related to a virus or an underlying cold or illness.
Yesterday, I got a call from the daycare saying Norah was having difficulty breathing, had a barking cough and had a temperature over 100. Since this was her first episode, she was younger than Nathan was when he started getting croup, and it was accompanied by a fever (which Nathan never has), I walked her across the parking lot to the ER and we had a full work-up and treatment for croup. She took it all like a champ: the medicine, the breathing treatment and the X-ray. Most of the time she was smiling and laughing between coughing fits. The doctor and nurse said she was the happiest croup baby they had every seen. That's my Norah.
She has recovered from the croup and is getting over the underlying cold that triggered it (she has the Viral Croup).

Nathan and Lily

Nathan's buddy Lily came over to play one evening. The kids had a great time together playing dress-up, destroying the playroom, and running around crazy as kids do. Lily, you can come over to play with Nathan anytime you want.

Trip to FW

Last weekend we went to FW to visit family and have our taxes done. We had a great time hanging out with my brothers, their families and my mom.
While we were there we visited the mall and Nathan got to ride the Carousel. He chose to ride a dinosaur and had a great time.

Norah watched her big brother from the side-lines.

So happy!!!

We sectioned off an area in the basement and opened the 100-balls set Nathan got for his birthday (thanks Uncle Andy). Norah had a great time playing in the balls, when her brother wasn't throwing them at her head (no injuries).
