Nathan's new bike

Jeff got a random phone call saying we won a drawing (what drawing??) winning a child's bike. It took him a minute to remember that we did sign up for a drawing at the Lyndon Fair several weeks prior. In order to claim the bike, we had to sit through a fire safety presentation that lasted about 1 hour. The presentation was informative and a little boring (and a little eye-opening), but in the end, Nathan got his new bike.
He is getting the hang of pedaling, steering and staying on the bike (yes...there are training wheels on the bike). He is getting better every time we go out in the driveway to practice.

Another soccer season

At the end of the spring soccer season, we asked Nathan if he would like to do it again. We weren't sure he would want to because he really didn't enjoy it much even though he did get better as the weeks progressed. He surprised us by asking to play soccer again. We again signed him up for soccer at the YMCA.
Last weekend was orientation for the new soccer season. Nathan met his team and took pictures, both individual pictures and a team picture.

Looking forward to a fun and hilarious soccer season.

Shepherdsfest 2010

Last year, Heatherfield played one of their first concerts at Shepherdsfest. They were asked to come back and play again at the second annual Shepherdsfest Christian Art & Music Festival. It was a good concert and the kids enjoyed running around the playing.

I love this picture of Norah watching Daddy playing rock n' roll

Nathan wouldn't let them paint his face but insisted they paint his hands.
He wanted a ladybug and a rainbow.

Wisener's visit

Jeff's parents came to visit in mid-August because it had been several months since their last visit and the kids have grown so much. Judy couldn't wait to see her grandbabies. Nathan really enjoys visiting with his Memaw and Pop. He can show off his toys, his baby sister and his skills. They also came to celebrate Norah's first birthday, a little belated. As with every toy Norah receives, Nathan took over her new books as his own, but was able to share so Memaw could read to the grandbabies.

We stayed very busy during the short visit.
See other post about our trip to the Kentucky State Fair.
The pool at the YMCA is only open for a few more weekend before they close for the season so we went to the waterpark a few times. Nathan showed off his bravery and climbed the rope-wall and went down the waterslide all by himself. This is quite an accomplishment and he was able to show off for his grandparents.
Another activity we did while the Wisener's visited was we took them to the zoo. Our zoo recently opened their new seals and sea lions exhibit, Glacier Bay. We love going to the zoo, the kids love the animals. The new exhibit was neat and we were able to see a small sea lion feeding show.

KY State Fair

While the Wisener's were visiting for a few days, we did a lot of fun activities including going to the Kentucky State Fair. We try to go to the fair every year to see the animals and the fun displays.

Nathan enjoyed climbing on the little dinosaur

Time Out

Whenever Nathan is in trouble, he has to sit in his Time Out chair until he can stop throwing a fit and do the right thing. Norah has watched this many times, but is too little for us to start disciplining her in this way.
One day, Norah was found sitting in the middle of a pile of dirty shoes. We scolded her by telling her "No" and removed her from the shoes. She whimpered and happily walked herself over to the Time Out chair in the corner of the living room. We let her stay there since she was appropriately disciplining herself, but it was too cute not to take a picture.

Slugger Museum

We took the kids to the Louisville Slugger museum and factory tour. Timing is everything!! Unfortunately, we got there just as a large tour bus of seniors (not high school seniors) arrived and we were in their same tour. Needless to say we couldn't see much of the tour and it took a very long time to get through. Nevertheless, Nathan had a great time. Even Norah enjoyed herself.

Homecoming

Our friends, Rob and Mandi Allen, have gone through the long process of adopting a little girl from Ethiopia. I had the privilege of being among the many who met the new family as they arrived home. It was a wonderful homecoming as they introduced their daughter, Carissa to her new baby sister, Melia. Congratulations Allen Family!!!

Welcome Home Melia!!
